What is CNIC Information?
CNIC Information refers to the personal data stored against a Pakistani citizen’s Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) — a unique 13-digit identity card issued by NADRA to every Pakistani citizen aged 18 and above. This includes your full name, father’s name, date of birth, home address, and the number of SIM cards registered under your identity.
Why does your CNIC information matter? Your CNIC number is Pakistan’s primary digital identity. It connects your bank accounts, SIM cards, property records, tax filings, and government benefits under one unique number. Keeping track of your CNIC information — and who has access to it — is the single most important step to protect yourself from identity theft and fraud in Pakistan.
How to Check CNIC Information Online in Pakistan (4 Official Methods)?
There are four official ways to check CNIC information in Pakistan. Whether you have internet or not, one of these methods will work for you.

What Does Your 13-Digit CNIC Number Mean?
Your CNIC number is not just a random string of digits. Every single digit in your 13-digit CNIC number has a specific meaning assigned by NADRA. Here is a complete breakdown of what each part tells you.
The 3 Parts of Your CNIC Number
Your CNIC number follows this format: XXXXX — XXXXXXX — X
It is divided into three parts separated by dashes.
Part 1 — Province and Area Code (First 5 Digits)
The first five digits tell you exactly where in Pakistan you were registered.
Digit 1 — Your Province or Region:
| First Digit | Province / Region |
|---|---|
| 1 | Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) |
| 2 | FATA (Federally Administered Tribal Areas) |
| 3 | Punjab |
| 4 | Sindh |
| 5 | Balochistan |
| 6 | Islamabad Capital Territory |
| 7 | Gilgit-Baltistan |
So if your CNIC starts with 3, you were registered in Punjab. If it starts with 4, you are from Sindh, and so on.
Digits 2 and 3 — Your Division and District
The second and third digits identify your specific division and district within your province. Every district in Pakistan has its own unique code within this system.
Digits 4 and 5 — Your Tehsil and Union Council
The fourth and fifth digits narrow it down further to your tehsil and union council — the smallest administrative unit in Pakistan’s registration system.
Part 2 — Family Registration Number (Middle 7 Digits)
The middle seven digits are your family’s unique registration code in NADRA’s database.
This number links you directly to your family tree in NADRA’s system. Your father, mother, brothers, and sisters will all share a related family code. This is how NADRA connects relatives and verifies family relationships during CNIC applications.
This part of your CNIC number is also why you cannot simply make up a CNIC number — the family code must match an actual registered family in NADRA’s database.
Part 3 — Gender Identifier (Last Single Digit)
The last digit of your CNIC number identifies your gender.
| Last Digit | Gender |
|---|---|
| 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 (any odd number) | Male |
| 2, 4, 6, 8 (any even number) | Female |
This is how NADRA’s automated system assigns gender at the time of registration. If the last digit of your CNIC is odd, you are registered as male. If it is even, you are registered as female.
Real Example — Reading a CNIC Number
Let’s decode this sample CNIC number: 35202-1234567-1
| Part | Digits | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Province code | 3 | Punjab |
| Division/District | 52 | Lahore Division |
| Tehsil/Union Council | 02 | Specific local area |
| Family number | 1234567 | Unique family registration code |
| Gender digit | 1 (odd) | Male |
Common Questions About CNIC Numbers
Can two people have the same CNIC number?
No. Every CNIC number in Pakistan is completely unique. NADRA’s system ensures no two citizens share the same 13-digit number.
Can you tell someone’s exact address from their CNIC number?
The first five digits only tell you the registration area, not the current home address. A person’s actual address is stored separately in NADRA’s database and is not visible from the number itself.
What if my CNIC number starts with a digit not listed above?
This should not happen for a valid Pakistani CNIC. If you see a number starting with anything other than 1 through 7, double-check that the number was entered correctly.
Your CNIC Information and SIM Cards — What You Must Know
Every SIM card in Pakistan is directly linked to your CNIC. This connection is permanent, legally binding, and more important than most Pakistanis realise. Here is everything you need to know about how your CNIC information connects to your mobile SIMs.
How CNIC and SIM Cards Are Connected?
When anyone buys a new SIM card in Pakistan, the telecom operator is legally required to verify their identity through NADRA’s biometric system. This means your fingerprint is scanned and matched against NADRA’s database before the SIM is activated.
Once that SIM is registered, it becomes permanently linked to your CNIC number in PTA’s database. Every call made, every message sent, and every data session from that SIM is legally your responsibility — because it is registered under your name and identity.
How Many SIMs Can Be Registered on One CNIC?
PTA has set strict limits on how many SIM cards one person can have in Pakistan.
| SIM Type | Maximum Allowed Per CNIC |
|---|---|
| Voice SIMs (calls and SMS) | 5 SIMs |
| Data SIMs (internet only) | 3 SIMs |
| Total SIMs across all networks | 8 SIMs |
These limits apply across all networks combined — Jazz, Zong, Telenor, Ufone, and SCO. If you already have 5 voice SIMs registered on your CNIC, no operator can activate a new voice SIM for you until you deactivate one.
The Real Danger — Unauthorised SIMs on Your CNIC:
In 2025, PTA detected 4.7 million unauthorised SIM registrations across Pakistan. These are SIM cards that were registered on people’s CNICs without their knowledge — using stolen, photocopied, or forged identity documents.
This is not a small problem. If a criminal registers a SIM on your CNIC and uses it for fraud, harassment, or any illegal activity, you are the first person law enforcement will contact. Proving your innocence can take months and cost a significant amount in legal fees.
Unauthorised SIMs are used for:
- Financial fraud through JazzCash and Easypaisa accounts
- Scam calls targeting other victims
- Loan applications in your name that damage your credit
- Criminal coordination that gets traced back to your identity
How to Check All SIMs Registered on Your CNIC?
There are two official and completely free ways to see every SIM currently registered under your CNIC number.
Method 1 — SMS to 668
This works on any Pakistani mobile phone, even without internet.
- Open your messaging app
- Type your 13-digit CNIC number without dashes
- Send it to 668
- You will receive a reply showing the total number of SIMs registered on your CNIC, broken down by each network operator
Example reply you will receive: Jazz: 2 SIMs — Zong: 1 SIM — Telenor: 0 — Ufone: 1 SIM — SCO: 0
Note: A small SMS charge applies for this service.
Method 2 — PTA Online Portal
- Open your browser and go to cnic.sims.pk
- Enter your 13-digit CNIC number
- Click submit
- The portal instantly shows all SIMs registered under your CNIC, sorted by network operator
This method is free and works from any device with internet access. It also works for overseas Pakistanis checking from abroad. Also, you can use our sim information with CNIC number tool.
What to Do If You Find an Unauthorised SIM?
If the result from 668 or cnic.sims.pk shows more SIMs than you personally registered, act immediately. Do not wait.
Step 1: Note down exactly which network operator the extra SIM belongs to.
Step 2: Visit the nearest franchise or customer service centre of that operator. Bring your original CNIC card.
Step 3: Request to disown the unauthorised SIM. The staff will verify your identity biometrically and remove the SIM from your CNIC record.
Step 4: The disowning process takes 24 to 48 hours to complete across all systems.
Step 5: After 48 hours, re-check via 668 or cnic.sims.pk to confirm the unauthorised SIM has been removed.
Step 6: If you believe your CNIC data was stolen or misused, also file a complaint with PTA at pta.gov.pk and consider filing an FIR at your nearest police station.
How Often Should You Check?
Security experts recommend checking your SIM registrations at least once a month. The easiest habit is to send your CNIC to 668 on the first day of every month. It takes 30 seconds and can save you from months of legal trouble.
Legal Warning
Checking SIM registrations on your own CNIC is completely legal and encouraged by PTA. However, checking another person’s SIM data without their consent is a criminal offence under PECA 2016 — punishable by up to 3 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 1,000,000. Always use official channels and only verify your own information.
Can You Get CNIC Information With Photo Online?
This is one of the most searched questions in the entire CNIC niche — and almost every website either dodges it or gives a vague answer. Here is the complete, honest answer.
The Direct Answer
No. You cannot access another person’s CNIC photo online — and no legitimate website can show it to you. No CNIC SIM information system stores any pictures. They carry sizes and can saturate databses.
NADRA strictly restricts access to CNIC photographs. The photo stored in NADRA’s database is classified as sensitive biometric data and is protected under Pakistan’s data privacy regulations. Any website claiming to show you someone’s CNIC photo with their full details is either showing fabricated data, operating illegally, or running a scam to collect your personal information.
What You CAN See Online vs What You Cannot?
| Information | Available Online | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Full name | Yes | Pak SimOwnership tool |
| Father’s name | Yes | Pak SimOwnership tool |
| Date of birth | Yes | Pak SimOwnership tool |
| Home address | Yes | Pak SimOwnership tool |
| Number of SIMs registered | Yes | Pak SimOwnership tool / SMS 668 |
| CNIC validity status | Yes | NADRA Verisys portal |
| Voter registration details | Yes | SMS to 8300 |
| CNIC photograph | No | Not available to general public |
| Fingerprint data | No | Restricted to law enforcement only |
| Iris scan data | No | Restricted to law enforcement only |
Who CAN Access CNIC Photos?
CNIC photographs are only accessible to a small number of authorised entities in Pakistan:
Government and Law Enforcement:
Pakistani law enforcement agencies including the police, FIA, and intelligence services can access CNIC photographs through a secured NADRA gateway for criminal investigations and identity verification purposes.
Licensed Financial Institutions:
Banks and microfinance institutions have limited access to CNIC photograph data for account opening and KYC (Know Your Customer) verification. Even this access is logged, monitored, and strictly regulated by the State Bank of Pakistan.
NADRA Itself:
NADRA staff at registration centres can view your photograph during in-person identity verification when you apply for CNIC renewal, modification, or a new card.
That is the complete list. No private website, no app, and no third-party service has legal access to CNIC photographs.
Why Third-Party Sites Claiming to Show CNIC Photos Are Dangerous?
Websites and apps that claim to provide “CNIC information with photo” are almost always operating as one of three things:
Data scams: They display a random or old stolen photograph next to a name to make results look real. The data is fabricated or sourced from illegal databases.
Phishing operations: Their real purpose is to collect your CNIC number, phone number, or other personal details when you search. Once you enter your information, it is stored and sold to scammers.
Malware distributors: Many of these sites prompt you to download an APK or app to “unlock” the photo. These apps install malware on your phone that can steal your banking credentials and personal data.
Using these websites puts you at risk under PECA 2016 — Pakistan’s Electronic Crimes Act — which carries penalties of up to three years imprisonment and fines of up to Rs. 1,000,000 for accessing or sharing unauthorised personal data.
How to Safely Verify Someone’s Identity Without Accessing Their Photo?
If you genuinely need to verify someone’s identity in Pakistan, here are the legal ways to do it:
For individuals: Ask the person to show you their original CNIC card in person. This is the simplest and most reliable method.
For businesses: Use NADRA’s official Verisys portal at verisys.nadra.gov.pk which provides business-grade identity verification with legal authorisation. Banks, employers, and landlords commonly use this service.
For employers: Request a copy of the employee’s CNIC along with their original card for in-person comparison during the hiring process. This is the standard practice across Pakistan.
For CNIC status only: Use our free tool at the top of this page. Enter the 13-digit CNIC number to verify the name, address, and other details — without needing photo access.

Common Problems When Checking CNIC Information (And How to Fix Them)
Even with the right tool and the correct CNIC number, sometimes things do not work as expected. Here are the most common problems Pakistanis face when checking their CNIC information online — and exactly how to fix each one.
Problem 1 — “My CNIC Number Is Not Found”
This is the most common issue people report. You enter your CNIC number and get an error or no results.
Why this happens:
- You entered the number with spaces or extra dashes in the wrong places
- You misread a digit — the numbers 0 and 8, or 1 and 7, are commonly confused
- Your CNIC has expired and the record needs to be refreshed
- There is a data entry error in NADRA’s original registration record
How to fix it:
- Double check your CNIC number by looking at your physical card carefully
- Enter the number without any dashes first — just 13 digits in a row
- Try again with dashes in the correct format: XXXXX-XXXXXXX-X
- If still not found, visit your nearest NADRA office to confirm your record is active in the database
Problem 2 — “My CNIC Information Is Wrong or Outdated”
You find your record but the name, address, or other details are incorrect.
Why this happens:
- Your information was recorded incorrectly during the original registration
- You have moved to a new address but never updated your CNIC
- Your name spelling in the database differs from your actual documents
- A clerical error was made during a previous modification
How to fix it: You need to apply for a CNIC modification at a NADRA Registration Centre. Here is what to bring:
- Your original CNIC card
- Proof of the correct information — for example a utility bill for address change, or your birth certificate for date of birth correction
- Two recent passport-size photographs
- The applicable modification fee
Processing time is 15 to 30 days for normal service and 3 to 7 days for urgent service.
Problem 3 — “I Found More SIMs Than I Actually Own”
You checked your SIM count via SMS 668 or cnic.sims.pk and the number is higher than expected.
Why this happens:
- Someone has registered a SIM using your CNIC data without your knowledge
- A family member registered a SIM under your CNIC with or without telling you
- An old SIM you forgot about is still active in the system
- A telecom franchise made an error during biometric verification
How to fix it:
- Note which network has the extra SIM from your 668 reply
- Visit the nearest franchise of that specific network with your original CNIC
- Request to disown the unauthorised SIM — this service is completely free
- Complete biometric verification at the franchise counter
- The SIM will be blocked within 24 to 48 hours
- Check again via 668 after 48 hours to confirm it has been removed
Problem 4 — “My CNIC Is Expired — Can I Still Check My Information?”
Yes, your information is still in NADRA’s database even after expiry. However an expired CNIC creates serious problems in daily life.
What still works with an expired CNIC:
- Checking your existing CNIC information online
- Viewing your record in NADRA’s database
What stops working with an expired CNIC:
- Registering a new SIM card
- Opening a bank account or completing KYC
- Completing property transactions
- Applying for a passport
- Accessing most government services
How to fix it: Apply for CNIC renewal immediately. You can do this at any NADRA Registration Centre or through the PAK ID mobile app. The fee ranges from Rs. 400 for normal processing to Rs. 4,000 for executive urgent service.
Problem 5 — “I Lost My CNIC — What Do I Do Right Now?”
A lost CNIC is a security emergency that needs immediate action, not just a renewal application.
Act within the first hour:
- SMS your CNIC to 668 immediately — screenshot the current SIM count so you have a record of what was registered before the card was lost.
- Call NADRA helpline at 051-111-786-100 — report your CNIC as lost so they can flag the record.
- File a police FIR — this legally timestamps when you lost the card and protects you if someone misuses it.
- Call your bank — request a temporary freeze on CNIC-linked services.
- Alert all telecom operators — call Jazz 111, Zong 310, Telenor 345, Ufone 333 to flag your number against new SIM registrations.
Within one week: Visit a NADRA Registration Centre with your police FIR, two photographs, and any supporting ID. Apply for a duplicate CNIC. Request urgent processing if possible.
For the next six months: Check your SIM registrations via 668 every week for the first month, then monthly for five more months. Monitor your bank account for unusual activity. Watch for any unexpected bills or legal correspondence arriving in your name.
Problem 6 — “The NADRA SMS Service Is Not Replying”!
You sent your CNIC to 8300 or 668 and received no reply.
Why this happens:
- Network congestion — the service receives millions of requests
- Your SMS balance is insufficient
- The number was entered incorrectly
- Temporary service downtime on NADRA or PTA’s end
How to fix it:
- Make sure you have sufficient SMS balance.
- Confirm you typed only the 13 digits with no spaces, dashes, or extra characters.
- Wait 10 to 15 minutes and try again.
- If still no reply after several attempts, use the online portal at cnic.sims.pk instead.
- As a last resort, use our free Pak SimOwnership tool at the top of this page for instant results.
Quick Reference — Problems and Solutions

SNIC — Smart National Identity Card: An upgraded version of the CNIC with an embedded microchip containing biometric data. Complies with international ICAO standards. Gradually replacing the standard CNIC.

POC — Pakistan Origin Card: For foreign nationals of Pakistani origin who hold another country’s citizenship. Allows access to many Pakistani services without needing a CNIC.

Juvenile Identity Card: For Pakistani citizens between 15 and 17 years of age who need an identity document before they are eligible for a full CNIC.
CNIC Information App — Best Options in Pakistan 2026
Many Pakistanis search for a dedicated app to check their CNIC information quickly from their phone. Here is a complete, honest guide to every legitimate option available in 2026 — including the ones to avoid.
The Honest Truth About CNIC Information Apps
Before we list the apps, you need to know one important fact.
There is no single app that gives you complete CNIC information in one place. Different apps handle different parts of your CNIC data. Some handle renewal and tracking. Some handle SIM verification. Some handle voter registration. No single third-party app legally connects to NADRA’s full database to show you everything at once.
Anyone claiming their app shows complete CNIC details including photographs, full family records, and real-time database access is either lying or operating illegally. Always stick to official and verified sources.
Option 1 — PAK ID App (Official NADRA App) ⭐ Most Recommended

Apps to Avoid Completely
There are dozens of apps on the Google Play Store and various Pakistani websites claiming to provide “CNIC database Pakistan,” “live CNIC tracker,” “CNIC details with photo,” or “full SIM owner information.” Avoid all of them.
Here is exactly why they are dangerous:
They use fake or stolen data. These apps have zero legal access to NADRA or PTA databases and provide no NADRA SIM owner details. Any results they show are either randomly generated, outdated stolen data, or completely fabricated to look convincing.
They steal your personal information. When you enter your CNIC number into these apps, that number is collected and stored by the app developers. It is then sold to scammers or used to target you with fraud. You hand over your most sensitive identity number to criminals.
They may install malware. Many of these apps — especially those promoted through YouTube videos and WhatsApp groups — require you to download an APK file from outside the official app stores. These APK files frequently contain malware that can access your banking apps and steal your credentials.
They carry serious legal risk. Using or distributing unauthorised CNIC data is a criminal offence under PECA 2016. Downloading these apps and using them technically makes you a participant in illegal data access. The penalty is up to three years in prison and a fine of Rs. 1,000,000.
The simple rule: If an app is not made by NADRA, PTA, or a licensed Pakistani bank — do not trust it with your CNIC number.
